This article describes the problems encountered in the process of preparing schoolchildren for Science Olympiads and their solutions. The psychological features of formation and development of students' motivation are reflected in the preparatory processes. Ways to eliminate some negative factors that often occur in the process of preparation for the Olympics and cause a decrease in motivation are presented.
