Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the problem of chronotope using the example of the novel “The Woman in the Dunes” by Abe Kobo, an outstanding representative of 20th-century Japanese literature. The work pays particular attention to the theory of chronotope developed by M.M.Bakhtin, which is of great methodological importance for the analysis of literary works. Based on this theoretical approach, specific examples are used to analyze the organic unity of time and space and the ways in which they are artistically embodied in the novel.
