Abstract

The discursive-formative underpinnings of composite nomination in Uzbek and English are examined in this research. The structural and semantic features of endocentric and exocentric nominative units are compared. The study uses the proposition “a person related to X” to describe the cognitive-discursive character of composite nomination. The functions of metonymy, metaphor, and conversion in the creation of nominative units are given special consideration. The results advance comparative linguistics and secondary nomination theory.
