Abstract

This article examines the origins of social relations in society, the influence of social relations between people on the formation of a person's personality and identity in the novel "Sister Carrie" by the American writer and publicist Theodore Dreiser, one of the great representatives of world literature. The study researches how the central female character of the novel learns to interact in a certain social group and environment, how successfully she chooses, uses and controls the appropriate methods to make herself appear acceptable and pleasant.
