"EXPLORING LANGUAGE COMPLEXITY AND NAVIGATION OF ITS POLYSEMY IN BILINGUAL ENGLISH AND UZBEK DICTIONARIES"
Abstract
Creating bilingual dictionaries poses various challenges for lexicographers, especially concerning polysemy the phenomenon where a single word has multiple related meanings. This article explores the lexical interpretation of polysemous terms in the compilation of bilingual "Uzbek-English, English-Uzbek dictionaries." Key challenges include selecting headwords, structuring vocabulary entries, defining rules, semantic categorization, and handling polysemous and synonymous words. Polysemy is essential in both English and Uzbek lexicography and requires understanding for effective dictionary creation. This study delves into sense distinction, cultural nuances, semantic relationships, and the dynamic nature of polysemy, aiming to enhance bilingual dictionary quality and aid language learners.
